Top 3 drugstore foundations and skin tints
Finding the perfect foundation or skin tint depends entirely on understanding your skin type and personal preferences. If you are new to beauty, figuring out your skin type can take a little research, and discovering your favorite finishes often involves some trial and error.
The drugstore is the absolute best, budget-friendly place to start your journey. Here is a detailed breakdown of my top three drugstore foundation favorites.
L'Oreal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum Foundation
This foundation is consistently rated as one of the best drugstore formulas for achieving a natural looking, "your skin but better look." I like the sheer-to-light buildable formula that easily achieves light-medium coverage depending on the tools used for application. My favorite way to apply this is with my fingers or a brush. This foundation is best for dry, mature, or normal skin types looking for a lightweight glowing skin tint. It offers a radiant ,skin-like finish.
Pros: melts into the skin, doesn't settle into fine lines or pores, makes the skin appear plump and dewy, drys down completely
Cons: messy packaging, the glass dropper clogs and creates a mess around the rim, it also contains denatured alcohol, which can feel drying to dehydrated skin if worn daily, limited shade selection, because of the nature of its sheerness, there are less than 15 shades.
**there is a pump sold on amazon that fits this bottle to make things less messy
2pcs Replacement Press Pump for L'Oreal Paris
The claims for this foundation are medium, build-able, and long lasting. I agree with all three of these claims. I found the foundation to be creamy, easily spred across the skin, and long lasting through an 8 hour workday. I was able to build this up to a solid medium almost full coverage, and also sheer it out to light coverage. I found the coverage on my skin to lean towards a satin finish. I recommend this product to dry skin people as long as you wear a good moisturizer underneath. I also recommend for normal , combo and oily skin, although oily skin would likely have to set with powder in my opinion.
Pros: looks like a high-end foundation, covers redness, has a good shade range (36), long lasting, comes in a squeeze tube packaging for product control
Cons: sits on top of the skin instead of sinking in so it can look cakey if you use too much, can cling to dry patches, will transfer if not set with powder, sets quickly so you have to work fast
This skin tint is the most budget friendly of all! It has a lightweight formulas that is moisturizing with light-medium coverage. It is best for normal, dry and combination skin types, I think this will be to moisturizing for oily skin types. This skin tint has sheer-medium coverage with a very buildable formula that offers a natural soft satin finish. I like this for an easy everyday makeup routine.
Pros: budget friendly, skin friendly formula to plump and hydrate skin, long lasting in humidity, sweat-proof
Cons: poor shade selection (12), some shades oxidize, making them darker or orange appearing over time, may settle in to fine lines
